Applications accepted: August 15 – September 15
DRIVE-ME is a collaboration between the Governor’s Office of Policy, Innovation, and the Future, the University of Maine Center on Aging, Lifelong Maine, and volunteer transportation programs throughout Maine.
Any volunteer transportation program in Maine can apply, regardless of size, budget, or how long the program has operated. This includes programs still in the planning stage.
This is a competitive grant opportunity. A panel of volunteer driving program coordinators and other experts in volunteer transportation will review all applications.
What the grant can be used to cover:
Volunteer mileage reimbursement
Equipment needed to run your program, such as a dedicated phone line, computer, or tablet
Promotional items
Driver safety kits
Volunteer recognition events and materials
Other program needs. Tell us what you need and we can talk about how to fund it.
What the grant does not cover:
Purchase of a vehicle
Services already available at no cost through DRIVE-ME, including driver background and driving record checks, excess liability coverage, and access to Assisted Rides scheduling software
Questions? Email Lifelong@maine.edu and we will schedule a time to talk about your project.
