Structure: Regional initiative with staff support and leadership from Healthy Peninsula
Communities: Blue Hill, Brooklin, Brooksville, Castine, Penobscot, Segwick, Surry, Deer Isle, and Stonington
Highlight of 2025: We are most proud of leading a complex community collaboration- our Bridging Neighbors Program which we launched in the summer of 2023. This project trains and matches volunteers to community members, aged 60 and over, in need of support, advocacy, and accessing community-based resources. The barriers include the complicated dynamics of multi-agency partnerships, working with a large hospital system that is not designed to be collaborative, and funding to ensure sustainability. Despite these barriers, we have served many older adults who reside on the Blue Hill Peninsula and Deer Isle/Stonington!
