Aging Well in Waldo County's Initiatives and Accomplishments:
Communication and Information
We publish a Village Voice Newsletter
We update and distribute a resource list of contacts for all people of all ages.
Community Supports and Health Services
We partner closely with TRIAD and the Waldo County Sherriff's Dept to prevent elder mistreatment and to increase access to materials to keep people safe (e.g., drug take-back day, shredding events).
Working with the Masons, we have established a volunteer minor home repair program and provide referrals to people who need more extensive work than the Masons can provide.
Outdoor Spaces and Public Buildings
Partnering with several libraries, we have developed welcoming, accessible spaces for socialization.
Respect and Social Inclusion
Working with realtors, we have developed welcoming packets for new residents to Waldo County.
The communities of Liberty and Palermo have developed local social programming to keep people connected.
Transportation (including promotion of active transportation
We offer the Gift of a Lift, volunteer transportation to medical appointments and other needs.
